Tyger Tyger
03:59
|
|||
And of eternal light
In recurring dreams
In verse, the seers did divine
Read the waters moving
Heard the cosmos yawning and
The Sea’s hexameter beating on.
Who holds the key?
Who is king of thee?
Why the questions in your mind?
Who wants to be?
Who owns these memories?
History repeats in rhyme.
Tyger Tyger
Tyger burning bright
Tyger Tyger
Tyger burning bright
In the forests of the night
And rage rage rage
Against the dying of the light
Rage on the page, Dylan Thomas
Oh love, it is our sonnet
And here we are in rhyme
We’re dancing through this sonnet
And here we are in rhyme.
And the blessings from the stereo roll forth
The beat goes on
On dead leaves fallen
The sun has shone in time.
And who is king of you?
Who is king of me?

Hey ho… In the glory tides
Swelling… That swell in fair July
Beneath… Beneath the astral blaze
Through New… Through the New York shade
Drink in… We drink the urban dew
Down there… Pleasure’s long avenues
We’re reeling in these memories
They’re cascading ever on
Their perfect weight has our hearts breaking… into song
Thousands… Nine thousand miles of sway
Our new… Our new zenith plays
Seeking … Seeking out where
Oh where… This pendulum’s nadir
Hey ho… In the glory tides
Nearing… East River in dawn light
So why lament things now gone?
Give thanks and praise for that heart
That’s breaking into song.

The Only Voices
04:37
|
|||
Oh you’ve got a lot of choices
And this something that is not lost on me.
Mine is a faint whisper amidst louder voices.
And something suspends me
As you animate a room
There’s a risk I have not taken
How should I presume?
Oh and I – I am weighing out my words
Using them kinda like sonar
Because I wonder if you wondering
What this boy thinks?
So then tell me what of this cost?
I cannot rest
Love is lost that’s never confessed.
For I hold a light
I hold a flame
And I suffer the sweetest complaint, ever.
And we carry these disguises
So deftly that no one has observed
This midnight confluence ¬–
Our river runs its course, yeah
Oh and I, if I might be bold
I want you to have and to hold
Babin’, dancing ‘neath the streetlight gold –
Where we’ll be the only voices.
The only voices.
Wall to wall… Cacophony
Splendid and full… Enchanting
Melodies light… And chiming
Records spinning… Around and round
Toe to toe… We should be dancing
We should be… Just come and ask me
Dancing… And I would given the chance
Cheek-to-cheek…
And I’m thinking…
Tell me what of this cost?
I cannot rest
Love is lost if it’s never expressed.

All of the Above (1905)
05:40
|
|||
Something shook me
Took my mind for a moment –
An unbridled brilliant cascade.
Where the traffic intertwines
In the pulsing –
The to and fro of the mundane.
Something swayed
Something shimmered
And oh! On my mind it played.
In a mountain town,
On neutral ground,
I was stolen by the glimpse of something great.
Hearts quake.
Dreams escape.
Something real has changed.
I saw the rays of dappled light moving over
If that velocity were mine
I’d sidle by a beam of light
Freeze its moment and
Read its hieroglyphs to the blind
Hearts quake
Dreams escape
Something real has changed
Vibration of our sweet nothings
Essence of the strands and strings
The compass turns, the mind enquires
From this and all of the above –
The future of the wounded doves –
We must never retire
Hearts quake
Dreams escape
Something real must change
To you the car, the caviar and the champagne
To you the eye of your hurricane
They tell me boy you are employed in a dead end
Their words are both a sentence and a cage
Hearts quake
Dreams escape
Something real has changed

Sensitive Boy
03:09
|
|||
She rolls with rhythms underneath
Finding peace in the dead of night.
As cool as ice to all but some
She’ll burn down all that you think that you’ve become.
Never bows before a plinth –
A glimpse of her rebel side.
Ponytail swish and flail;
Khaki coat and the Doc’s done up tight
(So uptight).
Such a sensitive boy
Elegance destroyed
Yet never seen so alive
And the push and the shove
We make no sense of it all
Am I enemy or friend of you?
She roused the Southland Golden Fleece
Sacked Troy near Gore
Smashed the fashion police –
Bronze torso shining timeless.
Fish for Friday
TV Saturday
Sunday boredom reigns and reigns and
Monday… Invercargill – no sacred thing.
Apologies to no one, babe –
Apologies are last resorts.
You’ve never suffered fools
These city limits were never yours, never yours, never yours
Such a sensitive boy
Elegance destroyed
Yet never seen so alive
And the push and the shove
We make no sense of it all
Am I enemy or friend of you?
She’s such a sensitive boy
Elegance destroyed
Yet never seen so alive
And in the push and the shove
We're making sense of it all
But must all our enemies be friends like you?

Autumn Rain
03:47
|
|||
“What does it mean?” – Einstein
“Nothing” – Chaplain
Yeah belly-up these times have gone
Traces of beauty shimmer in a yielding sun
And she found herself so statuesque
As dusk assailed us and the shadows kissed
Did some dream her love away?
All summer drunk, she laid it all to waste
Rendered every page to amber flame
And the harvest moon began to wane
The circle drawn
The line we trace
With charcoaled bone
We call and wait
For autumn rain, for autumn rain, for autumn rain
Amid that heavy dew embers glowed
All memory did dissolve
Ten thousand years just fell away.
It could have been anytime, anywhere… who could say?
We lost the presence of our minds.
What are the rituals of our time?
Lightly falls the rain
Lightly falls the reign

Here & Now
04:11
|
|||
By Terror of the Deep
The crooked streets of life’s bitter reason
Make no sense when you’re in the moment
Take a step back
Try to figure it out…
And all those people I’d like to be knowing better
But there is only so much that I can take on
Better alone, but somehow more useless…
And years from now
I will be growing
Into someone worth knowing
But in the here and now
And I believe in time travel
I’m already some place else in time
Better alone, but somehow more useless
And years from now
I will be growing
Into someone worth knowing
But I’m lost in confusion
Of directionless movement
In the garden of my mind
It is blooming
You’ve got to push out
That negative vibe
But in the here and now

Slow Jam
03:40
|
|||
There’s a slow jam going on
Near the edge of oblivion
Where all the soon-to-be’s
Cower away from our moving feet
Slow jam going on
In the thrall of it’s rhythm
Surrender – give away
And let it come – what will, what may
What takes your breath away?
What heals our souls?
But a slow jam going on
Oh the feeling’s been so long
It moves right through me
Push the prow of these memories.
How can I stay?
What takes your breath away?
What heals our souls?
What takes our breath away?
Beauty unsolved?
Have I not dreamed this moment
Seen it from afar?
There’s a slow jam going on
And it’s healing all the wrongs
We see all our defeats
Now return as our victories.

Orion's View
04:19
|
|||
I see Orion on his rise
Inverted upended ascending over foreign skies
No constellation I recognise
I’m removed – abstracted
The stars are all scattered to my eyes
And I wonder what tomorrow brings
Action, reaction, chaos the order of all things
And we gather thoughts
Assume sentiments
And continue to drive
No companions,
Just you and I
The Mississippi is as low as it ever runs high
Caught in August heat time expires
Forwards and backwards we’re shaped in desire
Chance it adores us –
The dreamers, the blind.
Love goes before us
Let love be our guide
And I wonder what tomorrow brings
Action, reaction, chaos – the algebra of dreams.
